rejuvenate your well being
Hydrotherapy is a very effective treatment regime with many benefits to the recipient. Physiological changes in the body are triggered initially by the buoyancy effect of water on the body and the transference of heat into the body. The constant circulating currents of water breaks the ˜wet suit" effect, which prevents this heat transference into the body, thereby relaxing tense muscles and increasing blood flow to the tissues. The warmth has a sedative effect on nerve endings that reduces pain and discomfort. The buoyancy effect eliminates the effect of gravity and allows more freedom and comfort of movement of joints and muscles. Because of this, the jet pressure gives a deeper effect while the pressure of the water helps eliminate oedema (fluid swelling) in the tissues and tends to release endorphins, the same pain-killing substances released by vigorous exercise, massage or acupuncture.
In recent years, scientific literature has shown a growing awareness and acceptance that the mind can and does affect the state of the physical body. Few doctors would question that mental stress can cause physical disease. Past emotional or mental pain and stress can create a distortion in our bodies usually by over-tightening the muscles. These points of tension are often not released even after the initial cause has been resolved. Constant stress from work, family problems etc. can lead to huge decrease in flexibility and ease of movement in our body. This interferes with the efficient working of the body systems causing stiffness in the joints, tense sore muscles and congestion or even malfunction of an internal organ.
When under stress, the chemical changes in the body can cause blood-pressure to rise and the pulse rate to increase which can lead to palpitations, panic attacks, anxiety, etc. Regular hydrotherapy treatments can reduce these symptoms by slowing down the process of stress reaction as the warm water and sensation of the passive massage allows the body to relax and unwind.
Hydrotherapy also stimulates the Lymphatic System, which increases the flow of lymph to maintain the correct fluid balance to the tissues, to defend the body against disease, conserve protein and to remove waste products.
Other positive changes from hydrotherapy include;
Hydrotherapy is very useful for sports people and treatment of sporting injuries. It can be used to treat specific conditions by customizing the pressure and direction of the jets to apply pressure locally to specific muscles, joints or trigger points and is also useful as a relaxing and passive way to warm up before a sporting activity and as a recovery session after the game or workout where relaxing the body improves lymphatic drainage which reduces lactic acid build-up in the muscle tissue, reducing stiffness and muscle tension.
Hydrotherapy offers an excellent way to regain and maintain a relaxed, healthy and pain-free body. A body in a state of ease can significantly help us handle an over-stressed, modern life.

Hydrotherapy - A Seasonal Guide
Spring - After the winter let hydrotherapy help you get back in shape. It will help you fight the flab, tone up your muscles, soothe away stiffness and invigorate you. Hydrotherapy will also help you recover from the effects of increased activity brought on by warmer days and lighter evenings. Use hydrotherapy to ease back pain from gardening, muscle strains from vigorous exercise and inflammation of joints from over-use. It will also provide relief from lumbago.
Summer - Hydrotherapy is perfect for warming up and in preparation for sporting activities, maintenance of muscle tone and suppleness and for easing bruising and sporting injuries.
Autumn - As the weather turns cold and damp, hydrotherapy will help with those seasonal aches and pains, rheumatism and arthritis in the joints. It will also help with circulation.
Winter - Hydrotherapy offers a wonderful way to relax at the end of a cold, grey winter's day, as well as helping skin tone and soothing arthritic joints.
Sanitation
Our spa is equipped with Activated Oxygen Generators that oxygenate the water to oxidise any foreign matter and to eradicate bacteria and viral pathogens. This process is 3000 times more effective than and without the odour associated with chemicals. On completion of every program, the spa automatically begins a cleansing sequence, which includes flushing and air-drying and sanitation of all pipework using the Activated Oxygen Generator.
Personal Comfort and Safety
Our spa is equipped with Mattsson thermostatic mixing valves which accurately regulate temperature to ensure optimum comfort. All jet outlets can be regulated for personal comfort and all inlets are fitted with special filters to ensure no foreign matter enters the pipework. For added security, the spa is also equipped with an emergency stop button which immediately ends the program and drains the bath.
Your Comfort
We respect and wish to maintain your privacy at all times and your therapist will advise you in this regard. A light bathing costume may be worn in the spa and we can provide you with a sarong or robe, slippers and disposable underwear if required.
Never hesitate to tell your therapist if you are uncomfortable for any reason.
Treatment Procedure
On consultation with your therapist, the most suitable program will be selected for your individual needs. All instructions and procedures will be fully explained by your therapist prior to entering the spa. It is best to enter the spa as it is being filled to ensure optimum water depth for your body size. Furthermore, the effect of slow immersion in warm water has a positive effect on the lymphatic system. The program usually takes about 23 minutes. At the end of the program the pumps will shut off and you should exit the bath. Two minutes later, the bath will start to drain and the sanitation sequence will begin.
After your spa we recommend that you rest awhile before you depart or begin another treatment.
Your maximum safety and comfort is of paramount importance to us. Please let us know if you are under the care of a doctor or health practitioner or taking prescribed medications. Any form of massage including hydrotherapy should be avoided where there is infection, thrombosis or malignant tumour and after a heavy meal or if under the influence of alcohol or non-prescribed drugs.
We recommend discussing hydrotherapy with your doctor if you suffer from poor circulation, severe and recent bruising, rheumatoid arthritis, infections, inflammations, thrombosis or tumours prior to any hydrotherapy treatment.
